Rac GAP1 Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Rac GAP1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Rac GAP1 antibody (A-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Rac GAP1 protein, also known as MgcRacGAP, ID-GAP, or HsCYK-4, plays a critical role in regulating actin cytoskeleton and is essential for proper cell division, particularly during cytokinesis. Rac GAP1 functions as a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) that accelerates GTP hydrolysis on Rac1 and Cdc42, thereby downregulating their active forms and negatively regulating Ras-mediated signaling pathways. This regulation is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and ensuring that processes such as growth and vesicle trafficking occur correctly. Rac GAP1 is predominantly expressed in thymus, placenta, and testis, with lower expression levels found in spleen and peripheral blood lymphocytes. Rac GAP1 contains a Rho-GAP domain and a phorbol-ester/diglyceride-type zinc finger, and undergoes phosphorylation at multiple sites during cytokinesis, highlighting its multifaceted role as both a scaffold protein and a GTPase regulator.
