Qa-1 Antibody (6A8.6F10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Qa-1 protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Qa-1 antibody (6A8.6F10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Qa-1 protein, a member of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class Ib molecules, plays a crucial role in the immune response by presenting the Qa-1 determinant modifier (Qdm) peptide to the CD94/NKG2A receptor on natural killer (NK) cells. This interaction is vital for maintaining self-tolerance, as NK cell cytotoxicity against self cells is inhibited, thereby preventing autoimmune reactions. Qa-1 protein preferentially binds to CD8+ T cells, which further underscores its importance in modulating immune responses. The gene encoding murine Qa-1 is located on chromosome 17, highlighting its evolutionary significance in the context of immune regulation. Anti-Qa-1 antibody (6A8.6F10) serves as an essential tool for researchers studying immune mechanisms and cellular interactions in mouse models.

Can Qa-1 (6A8.6F10): sc-23889 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Qa-1 (6A8.6F10): sc-23889 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
