SEE ALSO...

PTTG Antibody (DCS-280) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PTTG protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PTTG (DCS-280) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PTTG protein, also known as pituitary tumor-transforming gene, plays a crucial role in cell cycle regulation by acting as an anaphase inhibitor, specifically regulating separin Esp1, which is essential for chromatid separation during mitosis. This function helps ensure proper chromosome segregation, thereby preventing chromosomal instability, a hallmark of many cancers. PTTG protein is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm but is also found in the nucleus, indicating involvement in multiple cellular processes. PTTG protein is overexpressed in certain cancer cell lines, such as Jurkat cells, and is detected in various human tissues, including thymus, testis, and placenta. Unique structural features of PTTG protein, including basic amino-terminal and acidic carboxy-terminal domains, allow function as a transactivator when fused to other DNA-binding domains, further underscoring importance in cellular regulation and potential implications in oncogenesis.

Can PTTG (DCS-280): sc-56207 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, PTTG (DCS-280): sc-56207 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
