PRP6 Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PRP6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PRP6 (B-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PRP6 plays a crucial role in the assembly of pre-mRNA spliceosomes, which are essential for the splicing of precursor mRNA into mature mRNA, a process vital for gene expression regulation. Specifically, PRP6 is involved in the formation of the [U4/U6.U5] tri-snRNP complex, which is necessary for the splicing process. In yeast, the homologous protein Prp6p is required for the accumulation of this tri-snRNP, and Prp6p is localized in discrete subnuclear regions, mirroring the localization of mammalian splicing components. Mammalian PRP6, isolated from HeLa nuclear extracts, shares conserved tetratricopeptide repeats with yeast Prp6p, establishing PRP6 as the mammalian counterpart. Unlike yeast Prp6p, human PRP6 interacts with both U5 and U4/U6 snRNPs, facilitating critical protein-protein interactions that bridge these two snRNP particles, thereby enhancing the efficiency of spliceosome assembly and function.
