Progerin Antibody (13A4D4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Progerin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-Progerin antibody (13A4D4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Progerin, a truncated isoform of Lamin A, is a 614 amino acid protein that plays a critical role in maintaining nuclear integrity and regulating gene expression. The significance of Progerin lies in its association with Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS), a rare genetic disorder characterized by accelerated aging and severe cardiovascular and skeletal abnormalities. Progerin is produced through a de novo silent point mutation in the Lamin A gene, leading to mislocalization within cells. In healthy cells, Progerin is anchored to the nuclear membrane, where Progerin is involved in essential mitotic processes. However, in HGPS-affected cells, Progerin accumulates in the cytoplasm, forming insoluble aggregates that disrupt normal chromosome segregation and contribute to the mitotic abnormalities observed in the disease.
