Presenilin 1 Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Presenilin 1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Presenilin 1 (H-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Presenilin 1, also known as S182, is located at the AD3 locus on chromosome 14q24.2 and plays a crucial role in processing amyloid precursor protein, which is significant in Alzheimer′s disease pathology. Mutations in the PSEN1 gene, which encodes Presenilin 1, have been linked to early-onset Alzheimer′s disease in affected families, highlighting Presenilin 1′s importance in neurodegenerative processes. Presenilin 1 shares approximately 80% amino acid sequence identity with Presenilin 2, and both proteins are members of the seven-pass transmembrane receptor superfamily, suggesting similar functional roles in cellular signaling pathways. Research continues to explore whether these proteins function as ligand-gated ion channels or G protein-coupled receptors, which may help understand mechanisms underlying Alzheimer′s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
