Prealbumin Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Prealbumin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Prealbumin (E-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Prealbumin, also known as transthyretin, plays a crucial role as a major thyroid hormone-binding protein, facilitating thyroxine transport from bloodstream to brain, which is essential for proper neurological function. Prealbumin (E-1) monoclonal antibody targets proteins primarily located in cytoplasm and vesicles of developing rat brain cells, where Prealbumin is transported from cerebrospinal fluid through endocytosis, highlighting importance in brain development and function. Sequence variants of Prealbumin have been identified in amyloid fibrils from patients with familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy, the most prevalent form of hereditary systemic amyloidosis, indicating potential role in disease pathology. While biologically active Prealbumin exists as a tetramer, amyloidogenic intermediate is thought to exist as a monomeric species, underscoring significance of structural integrity.
