SEE ALSO...

PNPase Antibody (D-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PNPase of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PNPase antibody (D-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PNPase, also known as mitochondrial polyribonucleotide nucleotidyltransferase, 3′-5′ RNA exonuclease, OLD35, or PNPT1, plays a crucial role in mRNA degradation by hydrolyzing single-stranded ribonucleotides in the 3′ to 5′ direction, which is essential for regulating gene expression and maintaining cellular RNA homeostasis. PNPase is evolutionarily conserved, with the mouse variant sharing 90% identity with its human counterpart, and forms homotrimers that are upregulated in response to interferon-β induction. The N-terminus of PNPase contains a putative mitochondrial targeting sequence, which has been confirmed through mutation analysis to direct PNPase to the mitochondria, where PNPase co-localizes with mitochondrial marker proteins in HeLa cells. This localization is vital for PNPase function in mitochondrial RNA processing and degradation, highlighting PNPase importance in cellular metabolism and the maintenance of mitochondrial integrity.

Can PNPase (D-1): sc-271479 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. Yes, PNPase (D-1): sc-271479 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
