PLUNC Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PLUNC protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PLUNC (A-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PLUNC protein, also known as palate lung nasal epithelial clone, plays a critical role in the innate immune response, particularly in the upper respiratory tract, where epithelial tissues and submucosal glands secrete PLUNC. PLUNC protein is essential for recognizing and binding to lipopolysaccharides found in bacterial products, which is vital for initiating an inflammatory response to pathogens. PLUNC′s ability to interact with lipopolysaccharides highlights PLUNC′s importance in the host defense mechanism, especially in the early stages of infection when rapid recognition of harmful agents is crucial. Notably, decreased PLUNC levels have been observed in the nasal lavage fluid of smokers and individuals exposed to reactive epoxy chemicals, suggesting that chronic exposure to irritants can impair PLUNC production and potentially increase susceptibility to respiratory diseases, including nasopharyngeal carcinoma, particularly in certain populations.
