plakophilin 3 Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects plakophilin 3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-plakophilin 3 antibody (E-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Plakophilin 3, a 797 amino acid protein belonging to the beta-catenin family, is characterized by eight arm-repeat domains, which are crucial for cell adhesion and signaling. Plakophilin 3 is primarily localized to desmosomes, specialized cell-cell junctions that provide mechanical strength to tissues, particularly in stratified epithelia that experience significant mechanical stress. Plakophilin 3 in desmosomes is vital for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating communication between cells, which is essential for proper tissue function and response to stress. Up-regulation of plakophilin 3 has been associated with lung carcinogenesis, highlighting potential as a prognostic marker and therapeutic target in lung cancer. The gene encoding plakophilin 3 is located on human chromosome 11p15.5, and expression is observed in most simple and nearly all stratified epithelial cells, with exceptions such as hepatocytes and hepatocellular carcinoma cells.
