SEE ALSO...

plakophilin 1 Antibody (10B2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects plakophilin 1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-plakophilin 1 antibody (10B2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Plakophilin 1 plays a crucial role in forming and maintaining desmosomes, which are specialized cell-cell junctions that provide mechanical strength to tissues, particularly in the heart and skin. By linking cadherins to cytoskeletal intermediate filaments, plakophilin 1 is essential for desmosome assembly and stability, thereby influencing cell adhesion and migration. Plakophilin 1′s presence in desmosomes is vital for maintaining tissue integrity under mechanical stress, making plakophilin 1 a key player in the development and function of epithelial tissues. Plakophilin 1 interacts with other plakophilins, such as plakophilin 2, which is critical for heart morphogenesis, and plakophilin 3, which is involved in signaling pathways related to desmosome-dependent adhesion. Plakophilin 1′s ability to regulate desmosomal protein content and assembly underscores plakophilin 1′s importance in cellular architecture and tissue resilience.
