PIDD Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PIDD protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PIDD (B-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PIDD protein, which stands for p53 induced protein with a death domain, consists of 915 amino acids in mice and 910 amino acids in humans, featuring seven tandem leucine-rich repeats in its amino terminus and a death domain at its carboxy terminus. PIDD protein plays a crucial role in the apoptotic pathway, as expression is induced by γ-irradiation in a p53-dependent manner, highlighting importance in cellular responses to stress and DNA damage. Notably, over-expression of PIDD protein has been shown to inhibit cell growth and promote apoptosis in a manner similar to p53, while antisense inhibition of PIDD expression can attenuate p53-mediated apoptosis, indicating that PIDD protein is essential for the apoptotic process. Furthermore, PIDD protein is localized in the cytosol, which is significant as this allows for rapid response to cellular stress signals, facilitating the activation of apoptotic pathways.
