PICT-1 Antibody (5A8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PICT-1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PICT-1 (5A8) antibody is available as the non-conjugated format. PICT-1, also known as protein interacting with PTEN carboxyl terminus 1, plays a crucial role in regulating the stability and turnover of the tumor suppressor PTEN, which is vital for controlling cell growth and apoptosis. By binding to the C-terminus of PTEN, PICT-1 facilitates the phosphorylation of specific serine and threonine residues, including Ser 380, which is essential for PTEN′s stabilization and function. This interaction is particularly important in the context of cancer, as PTEN is frequently inactivated in various tumors. PICT-1 is predominantly localized in the nucleus and nucleolus, with high expression levels observed in the pancreas and heart, while also being present in the liver, skeletal muscle, placenta, and kidney. Additionally, PICT-1 interacts with regulatory proteins from herpes simplex virus 1, such as ICP22 and ICP0, highlighting its multifaceted role in cellular processes. The gene encoding PICT-1, GLTSCR2, is located in a critical deletion region associated with human gliomas, particularly oligodendrogliomas, on chromosome 19q13.3, underscoring its significance in cancer biology.
