SEE ALSO...

pICln Antibody (D-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects pICln in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). pICln, a highly conserved and ubiquitously expressed protein, primarily localizes to the cytoplasm and plays a crucial role in the assembly of the spliceosome by interacting with Sm proteins. This interaction is essential for the proper formation of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), which are vital for pre-mRNA splicing. Additionally, pICln functions as an inhibitor of SnRNP assembly, preventing specific interactions between Sm proteins that are necessary for the formation of the Sm core. Beyond pICln′s role in the methylosome complex, which modifies Sm proteins through symmetrical dimethylarginines, pICln may also act as a swelling-activated anion channel or a channel regulator, highlighting its multifaceted importance in cellular processes. The gene encoding human pICln is located on chromosome 11q14.1, underscoring its significance in human biology and potential implications in various diseases.
