PGD2 synthase Antibody (H-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects PGD2 synthase in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PGD2 synthase plays a crucial role in the immune system by catalyzing the conversion of prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) to prostaglandin D2 (PGD2), a lipid mediator involved in various physiological processes, including inflammation and sleep regulation. The importance of PGD2 lies in its ability to modulate immune responses and its involvement in the pathophysiology of several diseases, such as asthma and allergic reactions. PGD2 synthase is primarily located in the cytoplasm of human cells, particularly in megakaryoblastic CMK cells, where expression occurs before differentiation into platelets, which lack PGD2 synthase activity. This localization highlights PGD2 synthase′s role in platelet formation and function, as well as potential impact on vascular biology. The human PGD2 synthase gene is mapped to chromosome 9q34.3 and exhibits species-specific expression patterns, with the human variant being widely distributed compared to its mouse counterpart, which is limited to oviduct and skin. PGD2 synthase is distinct from other members of the PGD synthase family, such as PGD synthase, which is dependent on glutathione for activity, underscoring unique biochemical pathways that PGD2 synthase participates in.
