Periplakin Antibody (G-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects periplakin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-periplakin antibody (G-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Periplakin plays a crucial role in the structural integrity of desmosomes and the formation of the epidermal cornified envelope, which is essential for maintaining skin barrier function and protecting against environmental stressors. Located at the cell membrane, periplakin interacts with other plakin family proteins, such as envoplakin, to form a robust cytoskeletal network that supports cell adhesion and tissue integrity. PPL is situated on human chromosome 16p13.3 and features multiple regulatory elements that influence expression. The N-terminus of periplakin accumulates at the cell surface of microvilli, where periplakin associates with cortical actin, highlighting importance in cellular architecture and signaling. Unique structural domains of periplakin, including rod and linker domains, facilitate interactions with intermediate filaments and other cytoskeletal components, underscoring a vital role in cellular organization and stability.
