PEN-2 Antibody (1C12-G5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PEN-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PEN-2 antibody (1C12-G5) is available as the non-conjugated format. PEN-2 plays a crucial role in the assembly and function of the gamma-secretase complex, which is essential for the proteolytic processing of type I membrane proteins, including the amyloid-beta precursor protein. This processing is particularly significant as PEN-2 is linked to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer′s disease, where the accumulation of amyloid-beta peptides is a hallmark. The gamma-secretase complex, composed of presenilin, nicastrin, aph-1, and PEN-2, assembles in the Golgi/trans-Golgi network compartments, leading to the autocleavage of presenilin into two subunits that form the active site of gamma-secretase. Understanding the structure and function of PEN-2 and its interactions within this complex is vital for elucidating the mechanisms underlying Alzheimer′s disease and developing potential therapeutic strategies.
