PDSS2 Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PDSS2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PDSS2 (C-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Prenyl Diphosphate Synthase subunit 2 (PDSS2), also known as decaprenyl-diphosphate synthase subunit 2, decaprenyl pyrophosphate synthetase subunit 2, and candidate tumor suppressor protein, is a 399 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of coenzyme Q10, a vital component of the electron transport chain in mitochondria. PDSS2 function is particularly important as coenzyme Q10 is essential for cellular energy production and has antioxidant properties, which help protect cells from oxidative stress. Defects in PDSS2 can lead to coenzyme Q10 deficiency, resulting in severe clinical manifestations such as myopathy, encephalomyopathy, and ataxia, highlighting PDSS2′s significance in maintaining cellular health. The gene encoding PDSS2 is located on chromosome 6q21, and alternative splicing results in two isoforms of PDSS2, further emphasizing its complexity and potential regulatory mechanisms in cellular processes.
