PDK3 Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PDK3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PDK3 Antibody (A-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PDK3 plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by regulating the activity of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC), which is essential for converting pyruvate into acetyl-CoA, a key substrate for the citric acid cycle. This regulation allows cells to adapt their energy production based on nutrient availability; during periods of starvation, PDK3 activity increases to promote fatty acid oxidation as an alternative energy source. PDK3 achieves this by phosphorylating the E1α subunit of PDC, leading to its inactivation, which is a critical mechanism for controlling metabolic flux. PDK3 expression is particularly abundant in the testis and is also present in heart and skeletal muscle, highlighting PDK3′s importance in both reproductive and energy-demanding tissues.
