PDGFR-α Antibody (16A1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PDGFR-α in mouse, rat, and human samples through immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry (FCM) applications. Anti-PDGFR-α antibody (16A1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFR-α) plays a crucial role in cellular processes such as proliferation, survival, and migration, making PDGFR-α essential for normal development and tissue repair. PDGFR-α is primarily located on the cell surface, where PDGFR-α interacts with PDGF-AA and PDGF-AB ligands to initiate signaling cascades that influence cell behavior. PDGFR-α′s ability to form homodimers and heterodimers upon ligand binding is vital for function, as this formation determines the specificity and strength of the signaling response. Dysregulation of PDGFR-α signaling has been implicated in various pathologies, including cancer and fibrotic diseases, highlighting PDGFR-α′s importance in both health and disease. PDGFR-α monoclonal antibody (16A1) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying these critical biological processes and their implications in disease.

Can PDGFR-α (16A1): sc-21789 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, PDGFR-α (16A1): sc-21789 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
