PD-ECGF Antibody (6A162) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor (PD-ECGF) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. PD-ECGF, also known as thymidine phosphorylase or gliostatin, plays a crucial role in angiogenesis by stimulating endothelial cell growth and promoting chemotaxis, which is vital for tissue repair and regeneration. PD-ECGF exists as a functional dimer composed of two polypeptide chains, expressed in various tissues including platelets, placenta, foreskin fibroblasts, and certain squamous cell carcinomas, and is secreted slowly from these cells. Notably, PD-ECGF is overexpressed in tumor tissues and lesional psoriatic skin, suggesting involvement in the pathophysiology of psoriasis. PD-ECGF′s structure contains serine residues frequently associated with nucleotide triphosphates, such as ATP, enabling catalysis of the reversible phosphorolysis of thymidine to thymine in an ATP-dependent manner, thereby exhibiting thymidine phosphorylase activity. This enzymatic function highlights PD-ECGF′s role in nucleotide metabolism and underscores potential implications in cancer biology and therapeutic strategies.
