Paralemmin Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Paralemmin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Paralemmin antibody (D-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Paralemmin, also known as Paralemmin-1 or PALM, is a crucial peripheral membrane protein that plays a significant role in maintaining cell structure and shape. Paralemmin is primarily located on the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane, where anchoring occurs through di-palmitoylation and prenylation of its C-terminal cysteine cluster. This localization enables Paralemmin to function at the synapse, where Paralemmin regulates neuronal plasticity and plasma membrane dynamics. Paralemmin interacts with the dopamine receptor D3, leading to a reduction in D3 expression and subsequent adenylate cyclase activity, highlighting Paralemmin′s importance in neurotransmission and cellular signaling. Paralemmin overexpression induces fibroblasts to extend long filopodia and adopt extreme cell shapes, suggesting Paralemmin′s involvement in plasma membrane formation and stabilization. Two Paralemmin isoforms exist due to alternative splicing events, which may contribute to diverse functional roles in different cellular contexts.
