SEE ALSO...

p35 Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects p35 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p35 (B-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. p35 protein plays a crucial role as a regulatory subunit of cyclin-dependent kinase-5 (Cdk5), which is essential for neuronal function and development. Cdk5 is unique among cyclin-dependent kinases as Cdk5 is primarily active in post-mitotic neurons, where Cdk5 regulates processes such as neuronal migration, synaptic plasticity, and maintenance of neuronal architecture. The interaction between p35 and Cdk5 is vital for activation of Cdk5′s kinase activity, and p35 presence is critical for proper functioning of Cdk5 in the brain. p35 can be cleaved to form p25, a truncated form that can lead to aberrant Cdk5 activity and has been implicated in neurodegenerative diseases, highlighting p35′s importance in maintaining neuronal health and function.
