P23 Antibody (JJ6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects P23 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). P23 (JJ6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. P23, also known as PTGES3 (prostaglandin E synthase 3) or TEBP (telomerase-binding protein p23), is a crucial cochaperone that is ubiquitously expressed and plays a significant role in cellular signal transduction. One of P23′s key functions is to assist in the proper folding and activation of steroid hormone receptors, particularly estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), which is vital for regulating gene expression related to hormonal responses. P23 is localized in the cytoplasm, where P23 interacts with the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) and is believed to inhibit GR-dependent transcription by disrupting the transcriptional machinery. This interaction highlights P23′s importance in modulating steroid receptor-mediated pathways, which are essential for various cellular processes. Furthermore, P23 upregulation has been linked to the invasion and metastasis of several cancers, underscoring P23′s potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target in oncology.

Can P23 (JJ6): sc-101496 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. Yes, P23 (JJ6): sc-101496 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
