p-Rb Antibody (7F10) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects retinoblastoma protein (Rb) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). p-Rb (7F10) antibody specifically recognizes the phosphorylated form of Rb, which plays a crucial role in regulating the cell cycle, differentiation, and apoptosis. Rb protein is primarily located in the nucleus, where Rb functions as a tumor suppressor by controlling the transition from the G1 phase to the S phase of the cell cycle. This regulation is vital for preventing uncontrolled cell proliferation, which can lead to tumorigenesis. Phosphorylation of Rb at specific serine and threonine residues, including Ser 795, is essential for Rb inactivation, allowing the cell cycle to progress. In a hypophosphorylated state, Rb binds to transcription factors and represses the expression of genes that promote cell cycle progression, thereby acting as a critical checkpoint in cellular growth. Anti-Rb antibody (7F10) detection of this post-translational modification makes p-Rb (7F10) monoclonal antibody an invaluable tool for studying cancer development mechanisms and Rb′s role in cell cycle regulation.
