SEE ALSO...

OTC Antibody (E-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects OTC protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-OTC antibody (E-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. OTC, also known as ornithine carbamoyltransferase or OTCase, is a crucial 354 amino acid enzyme that belongs to the ATCase/OTCase family and is primarily expressed in the liver and intestinal mucosa, where OTC localizes to the mitochondrial matrix as a homotrimer. OTC plays an essential role in the urea cycle, catalyzing the conversion of L-ornithine and carbamoyl phosphate into L-citrulline, a critical step for the detoxification of ammonia in humans. Disruptions in the OTC gene can lead to ornithine carbamoyltransferase deficiency (OTCD), an X-linked disorder characterized by hyperammonemia, which can be fatal in males and presents with variable symptoms in females. The OTC gene is located near a region of the X chromosome associated with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, indicating a potential link between these two conditions. Anti-OTC antibody (E-9) in multiple formats serves as a versatile tool for researchers studying the urea cycle and related metabolic disorders.
