SEE ALSO...

OctA-Probe Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody engineered to detect OctA, also known as the FLAG tag or DYKDDDDK peptide, which is frequently fused to proteins of interest for various research applications. anti-OctA antibody (H-5) is effective in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), providing researchers with versatile tools for protein detection and analysis. The FLAG tag is typically incorporated into the N-terminus of proteins expressed in bacterial, insect, and mammalian systems, facilitating the purification and visualization of target proteins without significantly disrupting their native functions. Depending on the fusion protein, the FLAG tag can be located in the cytoplasm, nucleus, or other cellular compartments, allowing precise tracking and study of protein localization and interactions within the cell. This spatial information is crucial for understanding the biological roles and mechanisms of the proteins under investigation. OctA-Probe (H-5) monoclonal antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, catering to a wide range of experimental needs. The small, hydrophilic FLAG peptide ensures that fused proteins retain their biological activity and structural integrity, while the tag can be removed post-purification using enterokinase for further functional studies. OctA-Probe (H-5) antibody supports advanced research in protein characterization, interaction mapping, and cellular localization through reliable detection and purification of FLAG-tagged proteins.

Does the OctA-Probe Antibody (H-5): sc-166355 recognizes the 3x Flag: DYKDHDG-DYKDHDI-DYKDDDDK as it does for Flag: DYKDDDDK ? I could not find the actual amino acid sequence of the Octa (eight) peptide in Santa Cruz site. Thanks!

Has anyone used it for detection of FLAG-tagged proteins by flow cytometry? I can't find any sample data. I know it works ok for WB, but I would like to see that someone had it working for flow before I buy a PE conjugate...

Asked by: tamois
We are not yet aware of any product citations using this antibody for flow cytometry. The conjugated primary antibody is recommended and warrantied for flow cytometry (FCM), however we are still gathering data to show on our website. Check back for updates!

Where does this protein(FLAG) express in paraffin embedded colon samples when do immune histochemistry?

Asked by: rujingai
Thank you for your question. That is a question we can't answer for you as it depends on the expression of the protein you have tagged with the Flag Tag (OctA probe). Please contact Technical Service if you have any further questions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong signal at 1:5,000Even at 1:5,000, the signal was too strong. It is necessary to say that I used overexpressed SOD1-flag system on HEK293T cells, loading less than 1µg of total protein. But it works well. It also works well for immunoprecipitation, I got pretty consistent readouts.
