Oct-1 Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Oct-1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Oct-1, a member of the POU domain family of transcription factors, plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression by binding to specific DNA sequences known as octamer motifs, which are vital for the transcription of various genes, including those involved in immune responses and cellular differentiation. Oct-1′s ability to form dimers, particularly with the transcriptional co-activator OBF1, enhances regulatory capacity, allowing Oct-1 to influence tissue-specific gene expression. This is particularly important in the context of immunoglobulin gene transcription, where Oct-1′s interaction with octamer elements is essential for proper activation of immunoglobulin promoters. Oct-1 is ubiquitously expressed across different cell types, highlighting a fundamental role in maintaining cellular functions and responding to developmental cues. With versatile binding capabilities and regulatory functions, Oct-1 is integral to both housekeeping and tissue-specific gene transcription, making anti-Oct-1 antibody (E-8) an invaluable tool for researchers studying gene regulation and expression in human cells.

When should the TransCruz reagent sc-28334 X be used instead of the standard form sc-28334?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. We recommend using the TransCruz reagent form when performing ChIP or GelShift assays. This form can also be used in other applications such as Western Blot or IHC, but the dilution should be adjusted by a factor of 10 to account for the higher original concentration.
