Oas1a Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Oas1a in mouse and rat samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Oas1a (E-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Oas1a, a member of the 2′-, 5′-oligoadenylate synthetase family, plays a crucial role in the cellular response to viral infections by synthesizing 2′-, 5′-oligomers of adenosine, which are essential for activating the latent RNase L enzyme. This activation leads to the degradation of single-stranded RNA, effectively inhibiting protein synthesis and viral replication, thereby contributing to the host′s antiviral defense mechanisms. Oas1a functions as a homotetramer and is composed of 400 amino acids, making Oas1a a significant player in the interferon response and a potential biomarker for conditions such as diabetes mellitus. As one of the rodent homologs of human OAS1, Oas1a is vital for understanding the mechanisms of cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis, as well as the overall immune response to viral pathogens.
