NPY1-R Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects NPY1-R protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NPY1-R (E-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The NPY1-R gene, located on human chromosome 4q32, encodes a 384 amino acid protein known as Neuropeptide Y receptor Y1, which is a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily characterized by seven putative transmembrane domains. Notably, the NPY1-R gene is unique among its family as it consists of three exons, contrasting with the contiguous structure of other G-protein-coupled receptor genes. NPY1-R is predominantly expressed in the postsynaptic membranes of various tissues, including the spleen, small intestine, kidney, testis, placenta, aortic smooth muscle, and throughout the central nervous system, highlighting its critical role in diverse physiological processes. This receptor interacts with Neuropeptide Y and unphosphorylated Peptide YY (PYY), with a particularly strong association with phosphorylated PYY. Depending on the cell type, NPY1-R couples with different G proteins, which serve as second messengers, and activation is essential for the release of substance P, a neurotransmitter involved in pain signaling, as well as the initiation of neurogenic inflammation. Furthermore, NPY1-R plays a significant role in stimulating feeding behaviors through interaction with Neuropeptide Y, making NPY1-R a vital target for research in metabolic and neuropsychiatric disorders.
