SEE ALSO...

NNMT Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects NNMT protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NNMT Antibody (G-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) plays a crucial role in the N-methylation of nicotinamide and other pyridines, which is essential for the metabolism of various compounds, including drugs and xenobiotics. NNMT activity in the human liver exhibits a bimodal frequency distribution, suggesting that genetic polymorphisms may influence NNMT function, leading to significant variations in individual responses to medications and susceptibility to toxicity. The human NNMT gene spans approximately 16.5 kilobases, consisting of three exons and two introns, and is located on chromosome 11q23.2. The isolated NNMT from human liver is 969 nucleotides long, with a 792 nucleotide open reading frame that encodes a 264 amino acid protein. The NNMT gene is considered a significant genetic determinant of plasma homocysteine levels, particularly in Spanish families, due to NNMT involvement in homocysteine metabolism.
