NKHC1 Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects NKHC1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NKHC1 (C-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. NKHC1, also known as neuronal kinesin heavy chain 1 or KIF5A, plays a crucial role in intracellular transport as a component of a multi-subunit molecular motor complex, facilitating the movement of organelles along microtubules. This function is vital for maintaining neuronal health and function, as proper transport is essential for delivering cellular components necessary for neurotransmission and overall neuronal integrity. Mutations in the gene encoding NKHC1 are linked to autosomal dominant spastic paraplegia 10, highlighting NKHC1′s importance in neurological disorders. NKHC1 exhibits a pan-neuronal distribution within the central nervous system and is particularly enriched in subsets of neurons, with a notable concentration in the perinuclear region of cultured hippocampal neurons. NKHC1′s ability to transport cargo effectively along microtubules underscores this protein′s significance in neuronal function and potential consequences of dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases.
