nitrated Tau Antibody (Tau-nY29) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody developed to specifically recognize Tau protein nitrated at the tyrosine 29 residue. anti-Tau antibody (Tau-nY29) targets an epitope encompassing amino acids 25-37 surrounding the nitrated Tyr29 of human Tau, ensuring precise detection of this modified form. Tau, also known as MAPT (microtubule-associated protein tau), or TAU, is a 758 amino acid protein primarily localized in the neuronal cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, and cell membrane. Strategic location is crucial for stabilizing microtubules, which maintain the structural integrity of neurons and facilitate essential intracellular transport processes. Nitration of Tau at Tyr29 can disrupt microtubule-binding ability, potentially leading to impaired neuronal function and contributing to the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases. Tau monoclonal antibody (Tau-nY29) is reactive with Tau nitrated at Tyr29 in human samples and is effective in applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Importantly, anti-Tau antibody (Tau-nY29) does not cross-react with wild-type Tau, Tau mutants nitrated at other tyrosine residues, or other nitrated proteins associated with neurodegenerative conditions. By enabling researchers to investigate the role of Tau nitration, Tau monoclonal antibody (Tau-nY29) supports the study of molecular mechanisms underlying diseases like Alzheimer′s, providing valuable insights into neuronal dysfunction and degeneration.
