    SEE ALSO...

NIFK Antibody (18E148) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects NIFK protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-NIFK antibody (18E148) is available as the non-conjugated format. NIFK protein plays a crucial role in nitrogen fixation, a process essential for converting atmospheric nitrogen into a form usable by living organisms. Specifically, NIFK encodes the beta subunit of the nitrogenase molybdenum-iron (MoFe) tetramer, which is a key component of the nitrogenase complex involved in this biochemical transformation. NIFK protein is primarily localized in the nucleolus, where NIFK interacts with the fork-head associated domain of the proliferation marker protein Ki-67 in a manner that is both mitosis-specific and dependent on phosphorylation. NIFK presence in various adult tissues suggests additional functions beyond Ki-67 interaction, which is predominantly expressed in proliferating cells. Understanding NIFK role in nitrogen fixation and cellular interactions is vital for exploring potential implications in cellular proliferation and metabolic processes.

Can sc-52904: NIFK (18E148) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-52904: NIFK (18E148) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
