SEE ALSO...

Nidogen Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Nidogen protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Nidogen (C-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Nidogen protein plays a crucial role in the structural integrity of basement membranes, which are essential extracellular matrices formed during embryogenesis. These membranes provide a supportive scaffold for tissue architecture and are involved in cell signaling, differentiation, and migration. Nidogen functions as a critical linker between laminins and collagen type IV, facilitating the assembly of the basement membrane and ensuring stability. Such interaction is vital for maintaining proper function of various tissues, as disruptions in basement membrane integrity can lead to developmental abnormalities and diseases. Nidogen is highly conserved across species, indicating fundamental importance in biological processes. Mesenchymal peritubular cells and myoepithelial cells synthesize and secrete Nidogen, influencing cell adhesion in an autocrine manner. During embryonic and fetal development, Nidogen is exclusively expressed in fully developed ectodermal basement membranes, highlighting specific roles in tissue formation and maintenance.

I am using Nidogen (C-7): sc-133175 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: jerojero
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
