    SEE ALSO...

NGF Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa light chain antibody specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 118-146 at the N-terminus of mature nerve growth factor (NGF) of human origin. Anti-NGF antibody (B-4) detects both precursor and mature forms of human NGF by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NGF, also known as beta-nerve growth factor, is a secreted neurotrophin crucial for the survival, development, and maintenance of sympathetic and sensory neurons. Within the cell, NGF is synthesized as a precursor protein (proNGF) in the endoplasmic reticulum, processed in the Golgi apparatus, and then secreted into the extracellular space. The extracellular localization of NGF is vital because NGF binds to cell surface receptors TrkA (tropomyosin receptor kinase A) and p75NTR, initiating signaling pathways that promote neuronal survival and differentiation. Understanding NGF′s cellular location is important, as dysregulation in NGF processing or secretion can lead to neurodegenerative diseases and impaired neural development. NGF monoclonal antibody (B-4) is a valuable tool for researchers studying NGF′s role in neuronal biology, enabling the detection of both intracellular precursor forms and secreted mature forms. NGF (B-4) antibody aids in advancing research on neurotrophin signaling pathways and their implications in neurological disorders.
