NG2 Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects NG2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-NG2 antibody (G-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. NG2, also known as melanoma-associated chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan 4, plays a crucial role in stabilizing cell-substratum interactions, particularly during early stages of melanoma cell spreading on endothelial basement membranes, which is vital for tumor progression. NG2′s structure, characterized by chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycan chains, is essential for function in cell signaling and interaction with extracellular matrix. These structural features enable NG2 to act as a co-receptor with α4 β1 integrin, facilitating focal contact formation and enhancing cell motility, which is particularly important in malignant melanoma. NG2 is expressed on blood vessels throughout rat embryo and is found on endothelial cells in central nervous system, as well as on smooth muscle cells outside CNS, highlighting significance in vascular development and maintenance. NG2 serves as a novel marker for epidermal stem cells, contributing to organized distribution by promoting clustering, which is critical for tissue regeneration and repair.
