NF2 Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody targeting amino acids 336-595 at the C-terminus of the human NF2 protein, with validated reactivity across human, mouse, and rat samples in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NF2 protein, also known as merlin or schwannomin, functions as a crucial tumor suppressor by regulating cell proliferation and maintaining cell adhesion, particularly in the nervous system. Encoded by the NF2 gene located on chromosome 22q12, merlin plays an essential role in linking the cell membrane to the actin cytoskeleton, helping to control cell growth by restricting excess cellular signaling and structural disruptions. Loss or inactivation of NF2 has been linked to neurofibromatosis type 2, a disorder characterized by bilateral vestibular schwannomas and other central nervous system tumors, due to NF2′s pivotal role in inhibiting tumor formation. As a highly penetrant gene, NF2 mutations increase the risk of tumorigenesis, highlighting merlin′s interactions with cytoskeletal components in preventing uncontrolled cell division. Anti-NF2 antibody (E-2) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, providing a valuable tool for exploring NF2′s tumor-suppressive function in cellular research.
