NF2 Antibody (B-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that targets amino acids 336-595 at the C-terminus of the human NF2 protein, with proven reactivity across species, including human, mouse, and rat, for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NF2 protein, also referred to as merlin or schwannomin, is a tumor suppressor encoded by the NF2 gene located on chromosome 22q12. Primary cellular location of NF2 is at the cell membrane, where NF2 connects to the cytoskeleton, an interaction critical for regulating cell adhesion and growth control. By stabilizing the actin cytoskeleton, NF2 helps maintain cell structure and prevents inappropriate signaling that could lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation. Mutations or loss of NF2 function are closely associated with neurofibromatosis type 2, a genetic disorder characterized by the development of bilateral vestibular schwannomas and other central nervous system tumors. NF2 protein′s membrane localization and cytoskeletal binding are essential to its tumor-suppressive role, emphasizing NF2′s significance in cancer research.
