NF-M Antibody (2Q168) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Neurofilament-M (NF-M) of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-NF-M antibody (2Q168) is available in non-conjugated form. Neurofilament-M is a crucial component of the neuronal cytoskeleton, belonging to the intermediate filament family, and plays a significant role in maintaining the structural integrity of neurons. NF-M (2Q168) antibody targets a protein that provides mechanical support to axons, essential for proper neuronal function and communication. Neurofilament-M undergoes various post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation, which can influence stability and interactions with other cytoskeletal elements. These modifications affect the dynamics of neurofilament assembly and disassembly, ultimately impacting neuronal health. Dysregulation of NF-M phosphorylation has been implicated in several neurodegenerative diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson′s disease, and Alzheimer′s disease, highlighting NF-M′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.

Can sc-71688: NF-M (2Q168) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-71688: NF-M (2Q168) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
