Neu1 Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Neu1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Neu1 Antibody (F-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Neu1 protein encodes the lysosomal enzyme neuraminidase, which plays a crucial role in the catabolism of sialic acid-containing glycoproteins and glycolipids, thereby influencing cellular signaling and interactions. This enzymatic activity is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and proper functioning of the immune system, as sialic acid residues are involved in modulating cell recognition and adhesion processes. Neu1 is localized primarily in the lysosome, where Neu1 forms a heterotrimeric complex with beta-galactosidase and cathepsin A, also known as the protective protein, which is essential for the stability and activity of these enzymes. Deficiencies in Neu1 can lead to severe neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorders, such as sialidosis and galactosialidosis, characterized by a range of symptoms including neurological disturbances and skeletal malformations. The human Neu1 gene is located on chromosome 6p21.33 and encodes a lysosomal protein that is found on the inner side of the plasma membrane and in intracellular vesicles, highlighting Neu1′s importance in cellular metabolism and disease pathology.

Can I use Neu1 (F-8): sc-166824 for immunohistochemistry on mouse samples?
