NEEP21 Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects NEEP21 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NEEP21 (H-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. NEEP21, or neuron-enriched endosomal 21kDa protein, is a single-pass type II membrane protein that plays a crucial role in neuronal maturation and is primarily localized to Rab 4-positive early endosomes within the somatodendritic compartment of neurons. This localization is vital for the proper sorting and recycling of receptors, particularly the AMPA receptor subunit GluR-2, which NEEP21 helps to transport to the cell surface. Disruption of the interaction between NEEP21 and GluR-2 can lead to the accumulation of GluR-2 in early endosomes, resulting in altered synaptic current properties that may affect neuronal signaling. Additionally, NEEP21 forms complexes with other proteins, such as GRIP1 and Syntaxin 13, further underscoring its importance in receptor recycling processes, including those involving transferrin receptors and neurotensin receptor 2. The study of NEEP21 and its interactions is essential for understanding synaptic function and the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal communication.
