NDUFA8 Antibody (E-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects NDUFA8 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NDUFA8, also known as complex I-PGIV or PGIV, is a crucial 172 amino acid mitochondrial protein that plays a significant role as an accessory subunit of the NADH dehydrogenase complex (Complex I), which is essential for cellular respiration. NDUFA8 facilitates the transfer of electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain, a process vital for ATP production and overall cellular energy metabolism. NDUFA8 functions are particularly important in tissues with high energy demands, such as heart and skeletal muscle, where NDUFA8 is most abundantly expressed. Additionally, NDUFA8 contains two CHCH domains, which are implicated in its role in electron transfer and may influence interactions with other proteins within the mitochondrial respiratory chain. The gene encoding NDUFA8 is located on human chromosome 9, a region associated with various genetic disorders, including hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia and Familial dysautonomia, highlighting NDUFA8′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
