SEE ALSO...

MVD Antibody (H-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MVD protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MVD antibody (H-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MVD protein, also known as mevalonate (diphospho) decarboxylase or mevalonate pyrophosphate decarboxylase, is a 400 amino acid enzyme that plays a pivotal role in isoprenoid biosynthesis, which is essential for various cellular functions, including membrane integrity and signaling. Located primarily in the cytoplasm of cells in tissues such as lung, liver, heart, skeletal muscle, brain, pancreas, placenta, and kidney, MVD catalyzes the ATP-dependent conversion of mevalonate pyrophosphate into isopentenyl pyrophosphate, a key precursor in cholesterol synthesis. This enzyme functions as a homodimer, effectively dehydrating and decarboxylating its substrate while hydrolyzing ATP, making MVD a critical component in the early stages of cholesterol biosynthesis. Given MVD′s essential role in cholesterol metabolism, this protein may serve as a valuable target for therapeutic interventions aimed at managing hypercholesterolemia and related cardiovascular diseases.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-376975 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
