Musclin Antibody (D-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Musclin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Musclin antibody (D-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Musclin, also known as osteocrin (Ostn), is a unique protein that doesn′t share homology with any known genes, although Musclin contains two conserved sequence motifs related to the natriuretic peptide family. Musclin is predominantly expressed in osteoblast lineage cells and skeletal muscle tissue, where Musclin expression is tightly regulated by nutritional factors. Musclin is secreted in both a full-length precursor form and a processed variant, and Musclin is recognized as a novel skeletal muscle-derived secretory factor that may play a crucial role in bone formation and glucose metabolism. Notably, insulin enhances Musclin levels, while epinephrine, isoproterenol, and forskolin reduce Musclin expression. In terms of cellular localization, Musclin is primarily bone-specific in mouse tissues, with minimal expression also detected in muscle, kidney, testis, and heart tissues. Understanding Musclin function is vital, as Musclin may serve as a key regulator in the interplay between muscle and bone, potentially impacting metabolic processes and overall skeletal health.
