Mucin 5AC Antibody (1-13M1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Mucin 5AC in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Mucin 5AC is a gel-forming mucin primarily secreted by surface mucous cells, playing a crucial role in the protection and lubrication of epithelial surfaces. The Mucin 5AC structure, characterized by a high molecular weight and extensive O-linked glycosylation, is essential for forming a protective mucus barrier, which maintains the integrity of mucosal surfaces in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. Mucin 5AC synthesis is tightly regulated by various factors, including glucocorticoids, which are necessary for mRNA expression, and pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-alpha, which can significantly enhance secretion during chronic inflammatory conditions.
