SEE ALSO...

Mucin 2 Antibody (Ccp58) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Mucin 2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through immunofluorescence (IF) and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-Mucin 2 antibody (Ccp58) is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing flexibility for various experimental needs. Mucin 2 plays a crucial role in forming protective mucus layers in the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system, essential for maintaining epithelial integrity and facilitating pathogen and debris clearance. Mucin 2 is primarily secreted by goblet cells and forms a key component of the mucus gel coating intestinal and airway epithelia, contributing to barrier function and immune defense. Dysregulation of Mucin 2 expression has been linked to various pathologies, including colonic tumors, highlighting its importance in both normal physiology and disease states. Mucin 2′s unique structure, characterized by extensive glycosylation and variable number of tandem repeats, allows interactions with various proteins and molecules, underscoring its significance in cellular signaling and tissue homeostasis.

Does this MUC2 antibody have cross-reactivity with MUC1 ?

Asked by: jm123
Thank you for your question. The antibody has been known to only detect MUC2. https://www.uniprot.org/uniprotkb/Q02817/entry#sequences

i received sc-7314 at room temperature though it says to store at 4C. Will antibody integrity be compromised? also- do you have a CoA for this item? Thank you.

Asked by: jujuB
Some of our antibodies ship out ambient. They can last up to 5 days out of storage. We do not have CoAs for our antibodies.

I tried using this antibody for IF at a 1:50 and 1:100 dilution in 5% BSA to stain for MUC-2 secreted by HT29-MTX cells but it did not work well.  Is there an antibody that is better suited for this application using HT29-MTX cells?

The Rabbit polyclonal muc2 primary antibody H-300 Santa Cruz technologies was been discontinued. Is there an alternative MUC2 antibody that can be used to stain mouse muc2 for IF. What would be the Alexa488 secondary antibody to use?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, this antibody sc-7314 should be suitable for IF on mouse tissues. Please contact technical support for further assistance.

Will this antibody work in a Sandwich Elisa?

Asked by: KathrinR
Thank you for your question. We have not tested this antibody in an ELISA and so this is not a recommended application at this time.

This might be a novice question, however, shouldn't a primary antibody never be from the same host as the target species? Nonetheless, you suggest using this mouse monoclonal antibody to detect mucin 2 in mice. Could you elaborate how this works?

Asked by: Mwolter
Thank you for your question. There is no problem with using a mouse monoclonal antibody for detection of the corresponding protein in mouse cells or tissues. The main concern would be that your secondary antibody (anti-mouse IgG) may cross react non-specifically with endogenous mouse IgG expressed in your samples. This is only really an issue if your samples are rich in endogenous IgG. In that case, we would recommend optimizing your secondary antibody, blocking and incubation conditions. Alternatively, you can always use a directly conjugated primary antibody and avoid using any secondary antibody for detection.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not stain goblet cells in murine intestine IFWe purchased two lots of this antibody and they do not stain for Mucin2, instead they appear to stain extracellular matrix or some other protein in the basal lamina propria (attached). We believe this is lot specific (attached), however customer service has chosen to ignore this after we politely brought it to their attention. We do not recommend purchasing this antibody, and are disappointed but not surprised by santa cruz's response to our concerns. We are however amused by the staff 5-star ratings of this antibody, fair play.
