MTHFS Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MTHFS protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MTHFS Antibody (G-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MTHFS, or 5-formyltetrahydrofolate cyclo-ligase, is a crucial cytosolic protein that plays a significant role in the formate metabolic process, accounting for up to thirty percent of a cell′s cytoplasmic folate derivatives. MTHFS catalyzes the ATP-dependent conversion of 5-formyltetrahydrofolate to 5,10-methenyltetrahydrofolate in the presence of a magnesium cofactor, making MTHFS essential for DNA replication. MTHFS regenerates 5,10-methenyltetrahydrofolate, which is subsequently oxidized during DNA replication. A deficiency in folate can lead to various disease states, highlighting MTHFS′s critical role in maintaining cellular function and genomic integrity.
