SEE ALSO...

MTHFD1/1L Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MTHFD1/1L protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MTHFD1/1L (D-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MTHFD1 protein, consisting of 935 amino acids, plays a crucial role in folate metabolism by facilitating the interconversion of tetrahydrofolate derivatives, which are essential for the synthesis of purines, methionine, and thymidylate. MTHFD1 is located in the cytosol and functions as a homodimer, comprising three distinct subunits that contribute to enzymatic activities: 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase, 5,10-methenyltetrahydrofolate cyclohydrolase, and 10-formyltetrahydrofolate synthetase. Proper functioning of MTHFD1 is vital, as MTHFD1 not only supports cellular proliferation and growth but also has implications in developmental processes; mutations in the MTHFD1 gene in pregnant women have been linked to an increased risk of neural tube defects in offspring. Additionally, MTHFD1L, a related mitochondrial protein of 978 amino acids, is expressed in various tissues and is involved in similar metabolic pathways, with potential associations to colorectal cancer progression. MTHFD1/1L (D-9) monoclonal antibody′s availability in multiple formats makes this reagent a versatile tool for researchers studying folate metabolism and its implications in health and disease.
