MSY2 Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects MSY2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MSY2 (A-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MSY2 plays a crucial role in gene expression regulation, particularly in testis and ovary, where MSY2 is involved in parental mRNA translation repression, influencing spermatogenesis and oogenesis. This function is vital for proper reproductive development and cellular differentiation. MSY2, along with YB-2 (also known as MSY3,4), belongs to the Y-box family of multifunctional proteins that act as transcription factors and mRNA masking proteins, interacting with various nucleic acid structures. The modular structure includes a highly conserved N-terminal cold-shock domain and four basic C-terminal domains rich in arginine clusters and aromatic residues, which are essential for binding capabilities. The gene encoding human MSY2 is located on chromosome 17p11.2-13.1, and YB-2 is notably expressed in testis, heart, and muscle, binding to the consensus sequence 5′-UCCAUCA-3′ found in the Y-box element.
